How to be a Germ Stopper

You can help keep your family healthy all year long by following these suggestions:

  • Wash hands with soap and water for at least 15 seconds before eating, after going to the washroom or when visibly dirty; a 60% or more alcohol based hand rub can also be effective.
  • Cough or sneeze into your arm not your hands.
  • Clean commonly used surfaces daily. Regular household cleaners will help remove most viruses.
  • Ensure your child has healthy eating habits, regular physical activity, adequate sleep and updated vaccinations.
  • If your child is ill, keep them home until they have no fever and are feeling well. Tell the school the reason why your child is away (ex. sore throat, fever, cough)
  • See your health care provider if your child is experiencing severe symptoms such as high fever and difficulty breathing.
